Annex Resident Responds To The TAMPOA Board

A prominent and respected Truman Annex resident and former TAMPOA Board member has responded to the TAMPOA Board's November 29, 2006 letter to TAMPOA members. He accuses the Board of not telling the whole story to the membership and of setting up smokescreens. We obtained a copy of the email letter. Here it is.

While you were throwing up more smoke screens, you neglected to inform the membership that we cannot pay our new 46k legal bill, due to insufficient funds. You NEED to tell the whole story and not just bits and pieces. Now, due to your actions, you have pitted neighbor against neighbor. I dare say you have cooked all of our geese. Better yet ASK the people what they would have done. #1 answer ....nothing..let the city make the move....nothing has changed...Southard street is still open...there are no gates...and no more traffic than there ever was. What a mess you all have created. I am ashamed of this board and it's actions. I have started to campaign for change. Bill Cartledge

"Prominent" and "respected" is something of an overstatement, I guess when you're grasping at straws to inflate the size of your "uprising" anyone who complains becomes "prominent".

The statement about there being no more traffic than there ever was is hogwash. But the real problem not being addressed in that letter is THE FUTURE, when there's lots more going on at the waterfront.

But also note that TAMPOA's last negotiated agreement called for COMPLETELY OPEN TRAFFIC all day long! The only time the gate would be closed is after 10pm, and it would still open even then for official use.

This whole "gate" issue is just a smokescreen for throwing hatred at the people in Truman Annex, for whatever prejudices people are harboring. If the gate "goes away", those people will still be calling to tear down the Annex completely, or making snide remarks about cats.

Obviously Konky enjoys feeding such hate....

your silence re: running for the board is deafening. could it be that you are not an owner and thus not a member of tampoa even though you imply that you are in your posts? could it be that you are misrepresenting yourself?
are you a voting member of tampoa? be honest now. inquirering minds want to know!

I have not posted here before and I am genuinely confused. There seems to be an intentional strategy to try and humiliate Truman Annex residents publically so that they will do something. Do what? They have already agreed to full public access between 6AM and 11PM. Key West parks are closed at night anyway. Can someone please tell me what the big deal is? Why is there an effort on this blog to spew hatred? What is the purpose? Why is granting public access all day long not sufficient? Also it is really pretty foul that you would blog under the name TAMPON. It kind of makes me think that you are a foul mouthed kind of person. It's better to stick to issues and not to have name calling and the title of your whole blog is basically name calling. Clean it up and maybe you'll get taken more seriously.

We disagree with the previous commenter's characterization of the name of this blog as "name calling." The name is an acronym for "Truman Annex Master Property Owners' News." We don't see or intend anything "foul" in the name of this blog. That is in the mind of the commenter. On occasion We will use good old fashion clean (our commenter would say "sanitary") satire. Does our commenter need a little "mental floss?"

I enjoy reading your blog and your positions seem pretty rationale. But I'm not buying your explanation about TAMPON. Your handle has an obvious double-meaning.

Fair enough. We can at least understand each other and agree to disagree. Many words have more than one meaning, and in that case it is the reader, not necessarily the author, together with the context that provides meaning. In this instance, what is missing from the conclusion you suggest is that the usage context does not support it.

In any event, we are happy you enjoy reading the blog and hope you'll keep coming back for more info.

Since you call your blog the "truman annex master property owners' news aren't you saying that you are a truman annex property owner? This would be an issue of credibility and information for your readers.
A simple yes or no would be indicated.

There was a board meeting on monday. Why weren't you there to question the board face to face and bring up the issues you hold dear. The directors explained their position and there was little in the way of opposition expressed.

One would not have expected that by reading your blogs.
