A New TAMPOA Board Member Speaks
Below is a letter from new TAMPOA Board member, Bob Frechette, that was e-mailed to TAMPOA members. His comments about the depositions recently taken of City Commissioners and the City Manager are interesting.

Dear Neighbors,
In the past few days I have read all the depositions that we have in our office here in Key West. I told Tom Tukey that I would send to all of you my thoughts on the status of TAMPOA versus City of Key West.
It is obvious to me that the current new City Commission has there own agenda and they really do not think that the ownership issue is a big deal, at least from their viewpoint. It was disturbing to me that they, as a group, have had very little legal or background history given to them from City staff. Or maybe they are choosing to just ignore the past.
The most disturbing depositions came from the City Manager and Commissioner Bethel. Both of these gentleman have been with this issue from the get go. Bethel seems to have a real memory problem real or perceived and delights in not attending several of the meetings that centered on the approval of City direction. The City Manager seems to be waiting for the Mayor and the Commissioners to give him direction on what position the City should take. We all know that will not happen because I really believe that they have no plan. The most disturbing comment came from Bethel and his position that the previous City Commission and its approved direction does not bear on the current administration.
I still believe our best course is to establish clear title to our little stretch of Southard Street, then publish the information to the City and move forward in the courts. I also believe that Commissioner Verge stepped down from his role as liaison due to his deposition that would make him look ridiculous since he never read the 2000 agreement and voted nay anyway! Any comments would be appreciated and I have the utmost appreciation for our Board and the work that has been done now that I have a better understanding of the mentality of our City Commission!
Sincerely,
BOB FRECHETTE

Once again you are transmitting information which was sent by e-mail to the owners in truman annex. You clearly have an agenda, but too bad it is not for the benefit of tampoa residents. There is no reason to publish this when it was already transmitted to those for whom it was intended.
If your intent is to publish information, why aren't you publishing the minutes of the bahama village consortium run by your friend bob kelly which up to this time has been kept from the public.
As we have noted in our publication policies, we will publish all information that comes to us that is newsworthy. Our "agenda" as you put it is to publish news that is of interest to our readers, not to benefit any special interest group. We would be happy, as we've said before, to publish newsworthy information provided to us by the Bahama Village Consortium, if they provide it to us or we obtain it.
If you have a beef with seeing the minutes of the BVC, we suggest that you write or talk to them and ask for the minutes. Or, join the BVC and then you can see them.
It appears that what you are really angry about is that we are publishing newsworthy information for and about Annex residents.
Don't you understand that it is this very kind of lack of openess that has hurt the reputation of Truman Annex and contributed to the notion that the Annex is a haven for arrogant rich stuffshirts who don't give a damn about anyone or anything except their property? Apparently not!
In addition, as we have noted previously to one of your similar posts when we published TAMPOA minutes, Mr. Frechette's letter was sent only by e-mail and not every Annex resident is on the TAMPOA e-mail list or has e-mail. Mr. Frechette's letter was not mailed to Annex residents. So we'll keep publishing news from TAMPOA that is of interest to Annex residents. If you've already received and read the information, then you can skip over that post and read someting else.
I agree that your blog is very informative for Truman Annex homeowners, particularly when information from TAMPOA Board and management is infrequent, often incomplete, and inaccurate. I don't understand why the Board and management (as well as apparently some that criticize this blog for its openness) have an almost paranoid stance when it comes to providing information that can be helpful in allowing people to make informed decisions.
You're forgetting that people like "conchette" like to pass everything they find out about Truman Annex business to the world, even if it can be used against our community by those who can't stand us. You cannot blame them for not making all details freely available.
Anyone who wants to do more than gripe about the situation CAN go to the TAMPOA office or directly to the officers and get the facts. If you're not willing to take that effort, then you shouldn't be so quick to judge.
So it's "shut up and sing" is it? Sorry, this chick isn't buying that mularkey any more than the Dixie Chicks did. Fear is always the cause of a closed society.
I know the Dixie Chicks.
The Dixie Chicks are friends of mine.
You, Conchette, are no Chick.
You're so cute! Now tell me you didn't just make that up. You know you didn't. You borrowed it from a Senator from Texas who in the Presidential debates was replying to a remark made by then Vice President, Dan Quayle, about President John F. Kennedy. The Senator lost the election. And I'll bet you don't know the Dixie Chicks either.
Sounds like you've never had an original thought in your life. Maybe you should get one!
